Hi,
I'm camping in France for the first time this year. Found some lovely places through the site but have been told it's not necessary to book. (Visiting between 20th June/16th July). Any advice?? Thank you |

I have always booked though we have always travelled at peak times ie late July to late august.
I know that the french schools pretty much follow our schools for hols, so I'd say that you would not have any problems at thaat time of year. Might be an idea to have some back up sites in mind just in case, depending on where you are going, there are bound to be many sites within a half hour drive of your intended site good luck |

i have been camping with my partner in france for the last three years, always in summer holidays, and we have never booked. We have always found places om the east and south east, there were a few that were full on the south west side. We only usually stay two or three nights at each place. If you have a specific place you want to visit then book, but if you are just exploring sometimes you miss a gem if you have to stay somewhere you have booked

We've camped many times in France. Eventually we always made a point of booking in advance, simply for peace of mind.
Yes, when you haven't booked there are usually sites within striking distance. But when you arrive late and you and the kids are tired and hungry - do you really want to spend the next two hours looking for a site, only to discover they're closed for the night. Ugh! |
