We did a trip through part of the Eastern side of Europe in May, June and half of July. We visited Berlin, Dresden, Prague and Budapest amongst others before returning through Austria. We liked it so much that we are going to do it again in September and October.
We plan to go to the same cities but use different campsites. We use the ACSI Card as much as possible as it represents such good value. We find the CCI Card is also very useful as it is nearly always accepted as ID by campsites in lieu of passports and many sites give a discount of 10% in low season and 5% in high season. Phil. |

Dont miss Slovenia, we're just back from there and its fab for camping/caravanning. Great people, great welcome, English widely spoken and what scenery! We went to Camping Menina (ACSI site), open all year round with the quirkiest, most helpful owner who takes you on trips up the mountains, etc. Enjoy

Can recommend Camping Lux Oase (www.luxoase.de) Don't know if you've already been to this site in Kleinröhrsdorf northeast of Dresden. Friends of ours spent their summer holidays there and found the owners to be extremely friendly and helpful. They loved the area and also plan to return! The site also accepts the ASCI card. This area of germany is full of history as well as beautiful scenary. Check out the Porzellanstrasse, a route through the area visiting the great names in china manufacturing eg Meissen, Rosenthal etc. Greetings from Cologne

Hi
My husband and I will be travelling to France in July 2010 and are hiring a motorhome. We would like to know if anyone knows of any caravan parks in the Normandy region of France and also along the Rhine River. Also can someone please tell us what is an ACSI card and a CCI Card? Thank you Sue ![]() |

An ACSI card is a low season discount card that lets you stay at any of nearly 1900 campsites in 19 countries in Europe. The costs per night are fixed at 11, 13 or 15 euro. This is for a pitch, 2 people and electricity. The discount is generally not available from the end of June until the beginning of September. There are a few sites that continue into the first couple of weeks of July and start accepting the card again from the middle of August. It can be obtained from Vicarious Books and consists of a Guide Book with details of all the sites in the scheme as well as the card which you present at reception to get the discount.
The CCI Card is the Camping Card International which can be obtained from one of the Camping, Caravanning or Motorhome Clubs, you must be a member. The card is accepted by most campsites as an ID card in lieu of passports. It can safely be left at reception for the duration of your stay. An additional advantage is that many campsites will give a discount in low and high season. The discount varies from 5% to 20%. The discount can be obtained at over 1600 campsites in 30 European countries. Phil. |

Do go to Jumbo Camoing, just outside Budapest. The views from the hills over Budapest are stunning , and you can catch a bus from just outside the site into the centre. The owners speak English and are incredibly helpful.
