Camping El Greco, Toledo
We stayed at this excellent site 2 years ago and, on the whole, loved it. There is a lovely pool, though this is quite expensive to use (currently €3.50 for campers), and the food at the restaurant is excellent (the 'entrantes' are better value than the main meals). The view from the pool and restaurant terrace, of the city, is probably the best we've ever come across at any campsite. The pitches are a good size, the shower blocks are clean and of a high standard, and the shop is well-stocked. However, our visit in 2007 was spoilt by extremely loud, thumping dance music from nearby throughout the night, rendering sleep impossible. We have just spent another night there, assuming that this bad experience was a one-off, or maybe just a weekend occurance. However, the same thing happened, despite this being a Wednesday night, the music finally stopping at about 5 a.m. We asked about it at reception and apparently this happens EVERY night during summer months! It is from a bar 3 km away, and the campsite owners, and other local residents, have seemingly been unsuccessful in their attempts to get it stopped. Please don't be put off from going, as this is a great site (and the owners need all the support they can get!), but I advise either going outside the summer season or taking earplugs!
