I wish i had seen this forum before i booked and paid in full to these scammers,
i was hood winked by the fact that i could try a Monaco cayman before i spend a lot of money buying one,
i stupidly used my debit card not credit card breaking all my own rules,
£1400 for 7 days hire ,all seemed well,i spoke to a David Harris several time all still seemed OK,
received several emails from him and we asked if we could have it for extra days , received a further email say this was OK on 12/07/11 .and they would ask the bank for a further £600
on the 16/07/11 .i telephoned to ask the wheel base with out hang overs to be told by a girl that this company was no longer trading and to watch the web site for updates .
she had no idea she said of the receivers and couldn't pass messages on "What a surprise",
i have had no letter and no return of my money. and the web site is now forbidden
I have managed to stop the £600 from going out and cancelled my card so no more can be taken, how ever i am a little concerned they have my husbands driving licence details and our full address. and since heard they have been passing on these details .
And a note to the person who said they were satisfied with this company perhaps you should arrange to meet with all the hundreds of people they have not returned there hard earned money to .
David Harris and his colleges should have a skip delivered to there premises so they can shovel all there bullshit back into it.

I'm another one who has been burned by SunDriveHire - luckily I put it on my credit card whom I've now started the process of getting my money back with. I was warned about these guys a couple of weeks ago at a VW festival and started quizzing them via e-mail and phone (mostly to little or no response) - but at least I kept notes and have got something to turn over to the CC company.
I've been given some pointers to alternative (and more reputable) companies - I'll post up info on them if all turns out well...?

I have had exactly the same problem, got the refund slip, and it was never paid in, then after loads of chasing up, I spoke to the accounts dept who said they are asking all of their cusrtomers to chase the money up via their visa company!
They have no intention of paying us back, they then agreed to send me a chequer as I paid using a debit card so I dont have the same comback as if I had used a credit card, but as you have guessed, they bounced the cheque on me and to add insult, when the cheque turned up they never even paid the correct postage!
My advide is AVOID USING SUNDRIVE HIRE... THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY.

My husband and I went through the rental process with Sundrive in the last 6 weeks. We emailed and had replies and also spoke to someone on the phone - they even gave us a registration number for booking the ferry to Calais. I have just phoned the DVLA - no such registration. We are pretty certain that the motorhome we have paid for will not turn up on Wednesday : /

We are annoyed as you can imagine. If anyone out there is complaining to anybody re: sundrivehire, we will willingly add our voice!

I too booked a motorhome with this so called Company, which I now know does not exist and is a complete scam. I paid £1095, they took 400 more than they told me on the phone it would cost, and am fighting to recover the money through my bank as I used my visa debit card. (Stupid I know). I have reported the whole thing to Trading Standards and they advised me to speak to Action Fraud. They are a new organisation who work with police and all agencies to prevent further fraud and with enough evidence may be able to the apprehend these fraud criminals. The more people that report to them, the easier it will be to catch these low life, so called businessmen. Action Fraud can be accessed by phone on 0300 123 2040, they are available from 8am - 8pm weekdays, 9am 0 4pm Saturdays and 10am - 4pm on Sundays.

i paid via my visa debit card when speeking to your bank ask for a charge back if the person you are talking to says they cant do that ask for a supervisor as they are the one autherised to put this action forward .i bank with the halifax and they have refunded my money. good luck
