Towing in Spain

Hope this might be of some use to anybody travelling in Spain.I have noticed the odd motorhome towing a small car behind it.This is illegal in Spain.Towing of another vehicle in Spain is taboo.You may however tow a trailer with another vehicle eg small car on the trailer.If you have the misfortune to break down the only vehicle allowed to tow you is a breakdown vehicle.I know the police have heavily fined the odd travellers for doing this.
Hope this does not put you off travelling to Spain as it is a beautiful country to visit.

hi just spotted your advice that towing a small car in spain is illegal,is it?how many proecutions have their been?I tow a kia piccanto on A frame all over spain never been questioned,off again end year,in portugal,2007/8 i met over a dozen towers,some had towed down 6/7 times,right across spain ,i could find no one who had even been stopped let alone fined ,evidence please,as i believe this statement has yet to proved yours,davet
