Hi
Im getting small electric shocks off the outside of the caravan on the metal frame work around the door and metal rails its not a static shock and happens when you have wet hands suspect theres a short somewhere but dont know what area to look in first can anyone give me any sugestions thanks. Hi Chris, if your van is connected to the mains then it sounds like you have an earth missing and the van is 'floating'. When you touch the van you provide the ground for it. The shock you feel may only be the difference between earth and neutral, but for safety's sake get it checked out pronto.

you are obviosly static sensitive. Touch something metal nefore you touch the caravan or, buy an anti static strap.

If you have a screwdriver that lights up when you touch a positive terminal, try this on the door frame.
If this lights you are in danger of being electrocuted - and is highly dangerous. This means you have an earth fault. If the screwdriver does NOT glow, nothing to worry about. |
