Buying a caravan (in situ) on a site in Spain

We are considering buying a caravan that is already established on a pitch on a site in southern Spain. The idea is to pay pitch fees annually and come out from the UK from time to time. Good idea? A site has not yet been finalised. Any advice would be most welcome.
