Parcs Residentiels de Loisirs (PRL)
The French way to enjoy the great outdoors.
Recent years have seen a significant increase in the number of Parcs Residentiels de Loisirs (PRLs) in France. To such an extent that the Alan Rogers France Guide contains a special section devoted to them. In many ways, these parks resemble good campsites but with the important distinction that they do not have any touring pitches! Many are open all year.

Amenities at the parks are invariably very impressive, often with top quality swimming pool complexes, sports and fine restaurant facilities. PRLs have often been developed with the expectation that clients may be former campers or caravanners, with the common desire to combine the freedom of camping and caravanning with a high standard of home comforts.
Internal layouts can differ quite substantially, particularly with regard to sleeping arrangements, where these include the flexible provision for ‘extra persons’ on sofa beds located in the living area. If you're planning a holiday which includes more people than are catered for by the main bedrooms you should check exactly how the extra sleeping arrangements are to be provided.
